We’re All Going on a European Tour

Well fans…that time has finally come back to us. The Claret and Amber faithful, finally dusting off the passports for another trip with the Well. We’ve waited some time for it, and for most, it will be a time to right some wrongs.

Our last European outing saw us suffer an embarassing defeat to Sligo Rovers, 1-0 at Fir Park and 2-0 away in Ireland under Graham Alexander in 2022. Two results and performances, which despite Alexander securing us European football after a 2-year absence, was enough to see him depart the club, reportedly by mutual consent.

Ever since then, we’ve wanted the club to get back into Europe, not just for the prestige, the dreams, the travel, memories made and experience, but for the opportunity to right the wrongs of those performances. And, realistically, for a chance for many supporters to go to the match, after a covid trip to Israel was followed by reduced ticket numbers for Ireland. And while we may travelling without the man who got us there in Jens Berthel Askou, we go into it in a much stronger position; both in philosophy and squad strength.

And there is no better time for us to grab a European spot than now. As of next season, Scotland will lose a European spot, with the overall allocation of European places dropping from 5 to 4. Scottish sides will also enter the European qualifiers
